Molly's rescue parade appearance at

Goldstock 2006

On October 5th we rescued another Golden, 11 month old "Molly"

We believe Molly was sent to us by Carrie.

About a week and a half after Carrie left us, I got a call from one of the individuals that adopted one of the 6 Goldens pulled from a breeder in April of 2004. "Barbara" remembered how close our Carrie and Carrie's sibling that she had adopted had seemed at the Ocean County Animal Shelter.

Barbara was excited with the idea that her "Goldy" and our Carrie should get together for a play date. Sadly I had to tell her about Carrie's battle with cancer and her trip to the Bridge.

Barbara told me of another Golden at the Shelter that she had heard about.

Molly's Story

Molly, formerly known as Holly, is an 11 month old "very" energetic Golden. From what we have learned, she came from a puppy store in North Jersey, and most likely is a "puppy mill" pup.

Her 1st owners turned her in because of an "allergy" problem.

Her 2nd owners had a problem with Molly chewing-destroying a dining room table and a 200 year old dresser. Apparently the furniture damage was not enough to have her turned in, but the several days of diarrhea was!

#3 had always wanted a Golden and adopted her. But she was not prepared for the attention a young Golden requires, that coupled with long work days and before you know it Molly is back at the Shelter.

In steps "Robin", a part time animal control officer for the county. Robin feels badly for Molly and takes her in as a foster home and promises to find Molly a forever home. Robin already has 7 dogs of her own! Robin feels really bad for Molly, having been adopted out 3 times. It appears from Molly's chart, that she has spent more time at the shelter then in a home.

We had gotten Robin's number from Barbara (Goldys mom), made an appointment and went to the shelter, where Robin had brought her for the day. After an hour or so visit with Molly, we decide to bring Misty back later in the afternoon. We did just that and brought Molly back with us.

Molly is a typical Golden pup, very hyper. Her lack of a forever home is evident in behavior, a little wild to say the least. She LOVES water and car rides. Her and Misty seem to have hit it off and I think she now has her "forever home", thanks to Carrie.

She got a bath (she had been in the swamps earlier in the day that we had picked her up) on her 2nd day with us.  She loves the water. I took her to the boat later that afternoon and all she wanted to do was jump in the river. She did manage to fall in though, and got another "wash down" at the marina.

I think this one is going to be tough to get pictures of !!!
