Rachel's beloved Mittens has passed on.
Mittens was rescued from the streets when only 5-6 weeks old. Abandoned by her mother and other litter mates and facing almost certain early demise, Rachel brought her home and tried to convince Dad that we should keep her. Kittens are almost always irresistible, and Dad gave in allowing Mittens to live with us.
Without a doubt, this was Rachel's cat. Every day she would sit by the front door and paw at the window waiting for Rachel to come home from school. When Rachel did come home, Mittens would sit on Rachel's book bag while she did her homework. Mittens would follow Rachel all around the house and they would sit for hours watching TV together.
Mittens health had recently begun to fail her and most recently lost her eyesight. Though she could maneuver around the house fairly well, she would occasionally "get lost" behind a door or waste basket, etc.
A treasured member of our family, we will all miss her.
